Enovix +9.8% led the actuator-power rung on a dual-use battery order, while Japan's precision-gear and motor chokepoints sold off hard across the Tokyo session.

The leader was Enovix (ENVX), up 9.8% to $2.68 on a 100,000-unit battery order from a multinational dual-use drone maker (deliveries guided to the first half of 2027) plus a preliminary Q3 revenue beat of roughly $11M, up about 38% year-over-year. For this vertical the read is the actuator-power chokepoint: silicon-anode energy density is the constraint on how long a mobile robot or humanoid can run between charges, so a firm order into that rung matters even though the headline customer is a drone program. The move came off a fresh 52-week low of $2.40, and Northland cut its target to $5 from $16 on ramp-timing concerns even while keeping Outperform.

The laggard was Harmonic Drive Systems (HSYDF), down 6.9% to $33.65 — the strain-wave precision-gear chokepoint that sits inside nearly every humanoid and industrial-robot joint. The real move was on its Tokyo line (6324.T, down about 12% on its October 15 session), part of a broad Japanese factory-automation selloff: Yaskawa (6506.T) fell roughly 9%, THK (6481.T) about 7%, Nabtesco (6268.T) about 8%, Fanuc (6954.T) about 6% and Nidec (6594.T) about 6% on their Tokyo sessions. One caution on the US tape: the thin OTC ADRs overshot badly — Nidec's ADR (NJDCY) printed a −28.4% mark off a false +31% spike the prior day, against a real Tokyo move near −6% — so read the Japanese names off their home lines (and the ADR laggards NCTKY and the Yaskawa/THK ADRs' −5% marks) rather than the illiquid US quotes.

US robot names were mixed in Thursday's risk-on rotation. Winners skewed to materials and warehouse automation: USA Rare Earth (USAR) +7.5% to $11.09 and MP Materials (MP) +4.2% to $41.61 (the NdFeB magnet chokepoint under every servo), Symbotic (SYM) +4.9% to $39.76 and Unity (U) +4.7% to $43.34 on the simulation rung. The decliners followed semis and test: Teradyne (TER) −4.5% to $343.21, Novanta (NOVT) −3.8% to $134.80, Cognex (CGNX) −2.8% to $55.67 and Lattice (LSCC) −6.9% to $107.09; Tesla (TSLA) slipped 1.3% to $362.44.

The near calendar is event-driven. RoboBusiness 2026 (Santa Clara, October 19–21) features a humanoid-for-industry track and is the next read on commercial adoption, with Hyundai's Q3 (October 27) a check on its Boston Dynamics arm. China's one-year suspension of its October 2025 rare-earth export controls expires November 10 — directly relevant to the magnet rung that rallied today — and the anticipated Boston Dynamics IPO decision window and Humanoids Summit land in early December.
