The robotics basket sold off across every component rung — magnet feedstock off hardest and machine-vision leader Cognex down 7.7% — with only a venture-fund NAV and Unity left green.

The robotics complex had almost no bid this session. The nominal leader was the ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX), whose NAV marked +2.2% to $62.23 — a fund print on a private-growth book, not a traded component name — and the only operating stock to hold green was Unity Software (U), +1.1% to $45.44 on the simulation/physical-AI software angle. Everything that actually builds a robot, from the magnet feedstock up through actuation, vision and bearings, was sold, and the selling hit the vertical's physical chokepoints hardest.

The laggard was Energy Fuels (UUUU), down 8.9% to $10.26, the rare-earth magnet-feedstock name at the head of a critical-minerals slide that also carried MP Materials (MP) −4.6% to $46.31 and USA Rare Earth (USAR) −3.7% to $13.23. NdFeB magnets are the non-substitutable input to every servo and humanoid joint actuator, so the feedstock chokepoint is the one the robotics thesis watches most closely — and it fell with the broader scarcity-premium unwind as US–China tension eased, no company-specific catalyst attached.

The robotics-specific break was Cognex (CGNX), down 7.7% to $61.21, the machine-vision chokepoint and the session's sharpest component-name decline. There was no fresh news; the move extends a standing derating after HSBC cut the stock to Hold with a $65 target in August and other desks followed, and on a risk-off day a high-multiple vision franchise is the first to be sold. The rest of the actuation-and-sensing stack went with it: Allegro MicroSystems (ALGM) −4.5% to $37.03 and STMicro (STM) −4.3% to $56.18 on the magnetic-sensing and power-silicon rungs, Teradyne (TER) −4.3% to $411.78 on test, Moog (MOG.A) −4.1% to $360.39 on precision motion, Timken (TKR) −3.9% to $114.91 on bearings and Ambarella (AMBA) −3.8% to $65.33 on vision SoCs. The warehouse-automation and service-robot names were steadier in relative terms, Symbotic (SYM) −1.9% to $43.31 and Serve Robotics (SERV) −2.3% to $4.66.

The calendar turns busy in the next two weeks and should give the component rungs their own catalysts away from the macro tape. RoboBusiness in Santa Clara (Oct 19–21) headlines the humanoid-for-industry track, and the earnings cadence begins with Hyundai Motor's Q3 (Oct 27), Timken's Q3 (Oct 30) and Schaeffler's nine-month print (Nov 3) — clean reads on bearings and precision-motion order books. The structural overhang remains November 10, when China's one-year suspension of its October 2025 rare-earth export controls expires — the single event that would most directly re-rate the magnet-feedstock chokepoint that led the vertical lower today.
