Edge-vision and motion names rode a semiconductor bid led by Ambarella, while Japan's precision-gear line Nabtesco lagged.

Ambarella (AMBA) led, up 6.6% to $66.91, riding a broad semiconductor bid into the edge-AI vision chokepoint the vertical maps: the low-power system-on-chip that runs perception and inference on the robot itself, rather than in a data center, is the gate between a teleoperated arm and an autonomous one. The move had no fresh company disclosure behind it — Ambarella tracked the same edge-and-memory strength that lifted the broader chip complex on the session — but it lands on the right rung, and NVIDIA (NVDA) +2.5% to $219.34 alongside it kept the compute backstop firm. The bid came despite a Fed hike to 3.75%–4% taking effect, underscoring that this was a sector-rotation session into physical-AI enablers, not a rate story.

Nabtesco (NCTKY) was the laggard, down 4.2% to $14.98 on its Tokyo home line — a give-back in one of the two dominant suppliers of the precision cycloidal reduction gears that every humanoid and industrial arm depends on. The move reflects that name's own most-recent session rather than the US tape, and carried no program news; it reads as position-trimming in a stock that gates the single hardest-to-substitute component in the actuation strait. Regal Rexnord (RRX) −0.8% to $147.94 and Moog (MOG.A) −1.1% to $355.63 were the other soft spots, both shallow.

The strength ran through the motion-and-actuation layer. Nidec (NJDCY) rose 5.1% to $3.65 in its Tokyo session on precision motors, Allient (ALNT) +4.6% to $99.11 on integrated motion, Teradyne (TER) +3.5% to $353.13 on robotics-and-test, and Symbotic (SYM) +3.5% to $44.61 on warehouse automation. Tesla (TSLA) added 2.3% to $366.20 on the Optimus program and USA Rare Earth (USAR) +3.5% to $15.63 on the magnet-materials rung that feeds every actuator. The read is consistent: capital paid up for the compute, motion, and magnet chokepoints that gate whether humanoids scale, while the precision-gear supplier that is hardest to displace drifted on its own tape.

The catalysts ahead are demonstration- and supply-driven. NVIDIA's Isaac GR00T reference humanoid is targeted to ship from Unitree in late 2026, and the GR00T N2 foundation model is guided for year-end — the software substrate for the whole field. RoboBusiness (Oct 19–21, Santa Clara) and the Humanoids Summit (Dec 1–2) bracket the demand-side calendar, with Hyundai's Q3 results (Oct 27) a read on the Boston Dynamics parent. On supply, China's one-year suspension of its October 2025 rare-earth export controls expires November 10 — a direct input to the magnet strait that USA Rare Earth's move today priced.
