The simulation-software chokepoint split the session — Synopsys jumped 13% on an AI-driven earnings beat while Unity gave back part of its rally.
Synopsys led the desk, up 13.4% to $464.89 on a fiscal Q3 beat that put EPS at $3.91 against a $3.67 consensus on revenue near $2.5 billion, up roughly 42.5% year over year, with a guidance raise. Synopsys anchors one side of the simulation-software chokepoint: since closing the $35 billion Ansys acquisition it is the listed owner of the multiphysics engines used to validate robot electromagnetics, thermal behavior and mechanical loads, alongside its EDA franchise. Management tied the strength to demand for ever-more-complex AI semiconductors and integration benefits from Ansys — the same AI-hardware wave that lit up the compute tape now showing up in the design-and-simulation layer that gates it.
Unity was the laggard on the same chokepoint, off 2.0% to $43.49 — a pullback, not a repricing. Unity's robotics footprint is the open-source Unity Robotics Hub and its ROS bridge plus digital-twin work, but the stock's recent move has been dominated by the Unity 6 game-engine and AI-authoring story, which has carried it up sharply over the past month. Thursday's dip looks like ordinary give-back after that run, with no fresh company-specific catalyst; the simulation strait it shares with Synopsys diverged on earnings, not on thesis.
The rest of the basket rode the risk-on tape. NVIDIA rose 8.7% to $227.98 on its blowout print (see the compute desk), reinforcing the edge-AI-compute chokepoint that humanoid autonomy depends on; STMicroelectronics added 3.4% to $51.34 and Cognex 2.0% to $62.97 on the sensing-and-motion-control side, PTC 4.8% to $158.95 in the design-software layer, and Allient 2.8% to $95.69 among the motion-component makers. Tesla gained 2.6% to $354.81 and Teradyne 2.5% to $372.06; Enovix rose 5.6% to $3.59 on the battery-power choke.
The near calendar is thick with hardware milestones. THK reports fiscal Q2 on August 31, a read on the precision-motion (linear-guide) chokepoint, and Tesla's Optimus V3 reveal and Fremont production start are targeted for the summer. Further out, the ABB Robotics divestiture to SoftBank is expected to close in the back half of the year, and RoboBusiness (October 19–21, Santa Clara) is the next venue where the actuator, sensing and humanoid-integration roadmaps get their public read.
