Industrial software and motion held while robot chips, batteries and rare-earth magnets sold off; Knightscope cratered 15% on no material news.

PTC led at 4.8% to $118.52 — the simulation-and-software chokepoint, the PLM and CAD backbone that every robotics program designs on, catching a rotation bid as money moved from hardware into profitable software. There was no company news: PTC does not report fiscal Q3 until July 29, so Friday's move was positioning, not a print. Nabtesco (up 4.4% on strain-wave gears) and TE Connectivity (up 2.1% on sensing and connectors) were the other green, both real-economy motion names.

Knightscope was the laggard, down 14.7% to $1.45 — a thin security-robotics micro-cap that broke down on momentum with no material catalyst beyond a routine proxy (DEF 14A) filing. At $1.45 the platforms-and-integrators name is a sentiment stock, and Friday's risk-off tape took it out; the move is a liquidity and float story, not a change in the robot-platform thesis.

The bottleneck-input names fell with the broad semiconductor and materials sell. Edge-AI silicon led lower: Allegro MicroSystems down 8.1% to $46.03, Lattice off 7.0% to $128.42, STMicro 3.6%, Ambarella 3.5%. Batteries followed — Enovix down 9.0% to $3.95, Amprius 6.8% — as did the rare-earth-magnet motor inputs: MP Materials off 7.5% to $41.30, USA Rare Earth 6.5% to $14.15. Teradyne, the test-and-automation bellwether, fell 6.4% to $349.92 into its own print, and Tesla eased 2.1% to $313.03 ahead of earnings and its Optimus reveal.

The robot calendar is front-loaded next week: Teradyne on July 28; Tesla, TE Connectivity and PTC all on July 29; MP Materials and Allegro on July 30. Tesla's Q2 call carries the vertical's marquee item — an estimated Optimus Gen 3 reveal and low-volume production start — and Symbotic's fiscal Q3 (Aug 6) reads the warehouse-automation demand curve. Friday punished the speculative inputs; the prints decide whether the motion-and-software bid that led the board was rotation or conviction.
